PREMIER EVENT: Combo Breaker 2018 Results
Combo Breaker 2018, a Premier Event held in Chicago, IL, USA from May 25th through 27th, has concluded and Korea’s UYU|NL has taken 1st place! This is NL’s first Premier Event win of the 2018 season but his second win overall, having taken 1st place at Saigon Cup in late April. His Premier Event performance in top 32 shows a straight upward progression from 25th at Final Round in March, 17th at NorCal Regionals in early April, 5th at Stunfest last week and now 1st place here at Combo Breaker.
What’s just as impressive is that NL won Combo Breaker through the Winners bracket. He never lost a set at an event that was absolutely stacked with the world’s best players!
Singapore’s RAZER|Xian, the player who started the great Ibuki revolution at Final Round last year, took 2nd place. This is his best Premier Event performance so far this year, having taken 33rd at NorCal Regionals and 13th at Final Round. At Combo Breaker he made it all the way to Winners Finals before losing a set, where he met with the afore-mentioned NL and was defeated 1-3. Xian would eliminate Korea’s PG|Infiltration in Losers Finals 3-2 and advance to Grand Finals in a runback against NL, but was eliminated 2-3.
The legendary Korean player PG|Infiltration took 3rd place, following up on his 2nd place finish at Stunfest last weekend. Earlier in the year he took 4th place at NorCal Regionals and won the year’s first Premier with a 1st place finish at Final Round. Infiltration is definitely back in top form this year.
It’s also interesting that Korea was very well represented in Combo Breaker’s top 8, with NL getting 1st place, Infiltration getting 3rd place, and FURSAN|Verloren coming in at 5th.
