Premier Event: Canada Cup 2019 Results
We are in the final weeks of the Capcom Pro Tour 2019 season! Canada Cup 2019, a Premier Event held in Calgary, Canada from November 1st through 3rd, is now over and the results are in!
Japan’s ROHTO Z!|Tokido has taken 1st place, defeating Taiwan’s UYU|Oil King in an exciting Grand Finals 3-1. Tokido never left the Winners bracket during the event. Tokido was in 3rd place on the Global leaderboard standings prior to the event with two other Premier Event wins under his belt and this win further solidifies his position.
Coming in at 2nd place was UYU|Oil King with his Rashid who put in an outstanding performance here at Canada Cup. He made it all the way to Winners Finals before he took his first loss, which was to Tokido 2-3. Both in Winners Finals and again in Grand Finals, Oil King just could not find a way to consistently impose his offense on Tokido. Oil King was at 14th place on the Global Standings prior to the event and will now move up into the top ten, which will improve his seeding position at Capcom Cup if it holds through the North America Regional Finals Super Premier in two weeks. Of course with so many points on the line at the NA Regional Finals, his position could also further improve with a strong showing there.
RAZER|Xian from Singapore has been having a strong second half of the season with a 3rd place finish at EGX-European Regional Final two weeks ago. He also has several top 8 or just outside of top 8 finishes at Premier Events so far. He hasn’t made it to a Premier Event Grand Finals so far this year however and was stopped just short with a loss against Oil King in Losers Finals 1-3. The finish here allows him to move up from 16th place on the Global Standings to 12th place.
