YOUDEAL|Yukadon Secures a Third Premier Event Win of the Year

With three Capcom Pro Tour Premier Events left on the schedule in Asia, Dueling Dragons Dojo in Chengdu, China was critical for a player’s chance to increase their likelihood of qualifying for Capcom Cup 2017. YOUDEAL|Yukadon would have none of it, winning his second straight Premier Event in the span of two weeks and his third overall of the season.

The character change to Ibuki this year has clearly worked out well for Yukadon. He practically cruised through Dueling Dragons Dojo, losing just one game through top 8. Yukadon currently sits in third place on the Global Leaderboard, just 21 points ahead of GRPT|Haitani. Meanwhile, despite being seventh on the Global Leaderboard, GRPT|Fuudo continues to chase his first win of the season. Fuudo finished second again, losing to Yukadon in grand finals.

Quite a few players are on the bubble to qualify for Capcom Cup on the Global Leaderboard. Scarz|Sako, Mago, and NL earned a slight bump for placing ninth or higher but notable players like GRPT|MOV, CO|Dogura, Qanba Douyu|Xiao Hai, Talon|Xiaobao, and RZR|Infiltration are within a couple of hundred leaderboard points of the last spot. It’s a mad scramble for points and we get closer and closer to the CPT finale.

Gachikun vs GFuel|Verloren in Top 8

Gachikun has proven to be one of the strongest Rashid players in recent months. Despite losing the first round in game 1, he chipped away at GFuel Verloren, taking the first game of the set. But Verloren kept it close throughout game 2, tying the set up 1-1. With one round for each player in game 3, Gachikun went to work and closed it out with a fantastic whiff punish in the corner. Gachikun didn’t let up, closing out the set with a 3-1 victory.

Scarz|Sako vs GRPT|Haitani in Top 8

The two legendary fighting game gods did not disappoint as they went head-to-head in the losers bracket. Nearly every round seemed to go down to the wire in the first two games but Sako closed out both with an Akuma Critical Art, taking a 2-0 lead. Haitani was clutch, staving off elimination in game 3 with a round won on a time over a sneaky dash in low attack. Momentum swung to Haitani’s side as he tied the set up 2-2 in game 4 but Sako held on to win the set 3-2, eliminating Haitani from top 8.

YOUDEAL|Yukadon vs Gachikun in Winners Finals

Yukadon continued exert his will over Gachikun in Winners Finals. The two fought back-and-forth, splitting rounds in the first two games but Yukadon took a 2-0 lead. In game 3, Gachikun flew out of the gate to take a dominating first round. He carried that momentum over into round 2, scoring a dizzy on Yukadon and sealing the deal moments later to get on the board. Unfortunately, he just didn’t have enough in the tank to tie the set up. Yukadon closed out the set with a convincing final round to win 3-1.

YOUDEAL|Yukadon vs GRPT|Fuddo in Grand Finals

Finally, perhaps Fuudo was still looking for first CPT win but he had a steep hill to climb coming out of the losers bracket against Yukadon. Things went awry quickly as Yukadon trapped Fuudo in the corner and finished him with a perfect first round in game 1. He finished Fuudo with a cheeky dash through Fuudo’s Critical Art, hitting Fuudo with a V-Trigger bomb. The final game was close but Yukadon proved too much, beating Fuudo 3-0 to to take home the lion’s share of CPT points and a fancy Dueling Dragons Dojo trophy.
