EVOLUTION: Evo Championship Series 2022 Results
The biggest and longest running fighting game tournaments, Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) took place this weekend from August 5th to 7th and as always it brought incredible hype and some of the most intense competition so far this season! After an electrifying top 8 it was Japan’s HB|Kawano facing off against USA’s XSEED|iDom in Grand Finals. Both players were dominant in top 8 with Kawano moving through Winners bracket and iDom steamrolling through Losers bracket.
In Grand Finals iDom looked to be headed toward victory after winning the first set to reset the bracket but HB|Kawano was able to find a way to get his offense going late in the second set. This epic clash was decided in the very last round with both players having low health but it was HB|Kawano that landed the final blow to get 1st place and to be come Evo 2022 Champion. Kawano has also earned a qualifying spot to compete in Capcom Cup IX early next year! XSEED|iDom took 2nd place and Japan’s RB|Gachikun took 3rd place.
