Pepeday runs amok at the Mad Catz TGS Tournament
Japan has long been known to have of the strongest tournament scenes in the world, with tons of extremely talented local players who never get to travel overseas. Tokyo Game Show was the location of a massive single elimination tournament hosted by Mad Catz, and it brought out many of the best players the country had to offer, including Daigo, Tokido, Mago, Fuudo, Kazunoko, Bonchan, Nemo, and others. Top American player Justin Wong was also in attendance, as he tried to cement his spot on the CPT leaderboards with a win.
In a result absolutely no one saw coming, it was a player completely unknown on the international scene, pepeday, who defeated all challengers with El Fuerte, a character widely regarded as low tier in USFIV. His masterful use of El Fuerte’s movement and well timed EX Quesadilla Bombs kept opponents confused and bewildered, as he ran straight to the finals and took out Bonchan in convincing fashion to win the tournament.
Pepeday has since been invited out to The Fall Classic in October so American players will get a chance to take on the best El Fuerte in the world! A win at TFC would give him a guaranteed ticket to Capcom Cup and make no mistake about it, people will be rooting for the low tier hero.

Sanford Kelly Wins Guts 3
Back in the US, Guts 3 took place in Connecticut, bringing out many of the best players in the East Coast. The topic of a number of Player Spotlight interviews recently, Sanford Kelly proved to all doubters that he is a force to be reckoned with on the Street Fighter scene, by winning the tournament using his patented Sagat and Oni. Sanford cracks the top 30 of the leaderboards with this win and sets him up to make a run for a Capcom Cup spot before the season ends.
