NorCal Regionals 2019 Results: Japan’s ROHTO Z!|Tokido is Victorious!

PREMIER EVENT: NorCal Regionals 2019 Results

The second Premier Event of the 2019 Capcom Pro Tour season is now over and the results are in! NorCal Regionals 2019, held in San Jose, CA, USA from March 29th through 31st, was a sensational event that came down to a nail-biting Grand Finals between Japan’s legendary ROHTO Z!|Tokido and USA’s REC|Punk, who won the season’s first Premier Event at Final Round two weeks ago.

Tokido took 25th at Final Round but made a good showing last weekend at FV x SEA Major 2019, a Ranking Event held in Malaysia, with a 2nd place finish. At NorCal Regionals (NCR) he made it to Grand Finals all the way through the Winners Bracket and went into Grand Finals in a strong position after defeating Japan’s CYG BST|Fuudo in Winners Finals 3-1. REC|Punk, who at NCR was defeated in Winners semi-finals by Fuudo, made it to Grand Finals by struggling through the Losers Bracket.

In a thrilling first set at Grand Finals, REC|Punk managed to beat Tokido 3-2 to reset the bracket. The second set, which had several back and forth momentum swings, came down to the last round of the last match. Tokido used his Critical Art to chip out Punk’s remaining health to seal a first place victory at NCR with a 3-2 score.

Congratulations to ROHTO Z!Tokido for his win at NorCal Regionals 2019. He is awarded 700 points on the leaderboard and has demonstrated that he is still at the top of his game. REC|Punk showed a never give up spirit until the very last at this event and earns a further 350 points. Punk remains at the top of the Global Leaderboard in the CPT Standings with a 240 point lead over Tokido, who moved up into 2nd place.
