MD|Luffy Earns Premier Tournament Qualifying Spot to Capcom Cup and Qanba Douyu|Dakou Qualifies with Ranking Points!

RZR|Xian earned a Premier Tournament automatic qualifying spot to Capcom Cup by winning Final Round 18 at the start of the season. Because Xian has already qualified, MD|Luffy earns the Premier Tournament automatic qualifying spot that was up for grabs at Dreamhack Winter 2015. MD|Luffy already had enough Ranking Points to qualify for Capcom Cup 2015 with points alone, so his taking a Premier Tournament automatic qualifying spot at this event frees up the spot available to qualify with Ranking Points for another player. Qanba Douyu|Dakou now qualifies for Capcom Cup with his Ranking Points, making him the final player to qualify for Capcom Cup 2015.

Dreamhack Winter 2015 Highlights

Dreamhack Winter 2015 was the last event of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour season. There were more ranking points to be awarded, so for those who don’t already have enough points accumulated to qualify for Capcom Cup 2015 there was only one way to get in. Only one player was left on the bubble to possibly earn a spot with points. China’s Qanba Douyu|Dakou would get in if a player with more ranking points than him but had not yet qualified took 1st. For everybody else, it’s 1st place or nothing. There’s no holding back.

Here we present just a few of the many highlights from Dreamhack Winter 2015. If you would like to see more matches from the event, be sure to visit our videos page.

FGCBR|Keoma vs CCG|HumanBomb

Those who watched the Capcom Pro Tour Brazil Qualifier Premier Tournament know why FGCBR|Keoma is a crowd favorite. He’s exciting to watch and his Abel is unbelievable. CCG|HumanBomb made Keoma look, well, human. Singapore’s CCG|HumanBomb puts on a Sakura display and shows why he belongs in Capcom Cup. HumanBomb’s Red Focus to clutch the win at the end…wow!

MD|Luffy vs FGCBR|Keoma

Brazil’s best against Europe’s best lived up to expectations and this match was a thriller. Luffy’s scramble to win the fourth match to keep himself in the game and bring the score to 2-2 was absolutely incredible. Keoma had a sliver of live and Keoma had the life lead and just needed one solid hit to finish him off for the win but Luffy put Keoma on his heels. In the last match to decide it all Luffy does it again in the last round, with Keoma once again having a life lead with Luffy having very little left himself but Luffy once again made one clutch decision after another in the span of a few seconds and sealed the victory.

RZR|Xian vs BX3.TP-Link|Phenom

BX3.TP-Link|Phenom was in winners bracket to this point and winning the Premier qualification spot was so close, so you could feel the energy before the match began. RZR|Xian has been playing out of this world good, as expected, so it was a steep uphill climb for Phenom. Xian started the match off with his Gen and Phenom’s M.Bison (Dictator), fighting hard, got a 2-1 lead. We have to pause here to mention two things that Xian told F-W0rd, one of the commentators, immediately prior to this match in an interview that was aired on stream. First of all he said he wanted to win his third Premier event. He also said he wanted to do it with Gen, and prove that he can win with the character. When Phenom got that 2-1 lead Xian went to character select and picked Elena, and immediately we knew that although he really wanted to stick with Gen to the end, he wanted to get that third Premier win even more. Although the mood of the match changed with Elena’s pick, it was a real struggle between two amazing players all the way to the last round. Xian got the win but only just so, and Phenom was sent to Loser’s Bracket where he would be ultimately eliminated by MD|Luffy.

Grand Finals: RZR|Xian vs MD|Luffy

The Grand Finals was a bit of an anti-climax. Xian didn’t even bother to start with Gen this time, going for Elena right from the start and the commentators and everyone watching knew that Xian wanted that third Premier win over all else. Luffy started with a dominant first round but it was pretty much downhill from there. Xian’s Elena took control of the match and kept it, putting Luffy on his heels and keeping him there pretty much until the end. It was a dominant 3-0 victory for Xian and he had achieved his third Premier Tournament win this season.
