SEAM 2015 has concluded and, as expected, the levels of hype were off the charts! Most of the top players from all over Asia made their way to Bangkok, Thailand for the Premier Tournament. Here are the South East Asia Major 2015 Results.
MCZ|Tokido qualifies for Capcom Cup 2015
The Grand Finals was all Team Mad Catz, with MCZ|Mago facing off against MCZ|Tokido. Mago had all the momentum, and won the set 3-0. However, with Mago already qualified for Capcom Cup by winning HypeSpotting 4, it is Tokido who will earn the qualifying spot for SEAM 2015. Congratulations to Tokido!
Also a big congratulations to MCZ|Mago, not only for winning SEAM 2015 but also for being the first player to win 2 Premier Tournaments so far this season. As mentioned earlier, Mago win HypeSpotting 4 earlier this year.

SEAM 2015 Highlights: The Fiercest Premier Yet!
To give you an idea of the level of competition, consider this. Players of the calibre of /r/Kappa|Misse, Eita, RZR|Gackt, MOV, Kawaguchi, Gachikun, /r/Kappa|Poongko, Dark Jiewa, Kindevu, and more didn’t make it out of top 32 and BE./r/Kappa|Nemo didn’t even make it out of pools! It was an incredibly tournament and there are far, far too many highlights to summarize completely here. I can only ask that if you missed the live stream to please visit our videos section and watch the playlist. You won’t be sorry. This really was the fiercest Capcom Pro Tour event yet. Here are just a few highlights:
SEAM 2015 Top 5 Highlights
Kazunoko Exorcises a Demon
Kazunoko has had a tough time beating EG|Momochi in prior tournaments. It’s understandable, as EG|Momochi is one of the best players in the world, even though he hasn’t dominated this year as much as many expected. At SEAM 2015, Kazunoko seems to have finally solved the riddle as he beat EG|Momochi not once but twice!
RZR|RB
At almost every event there seems to be one player who goes beyond what was expected. Razor|RB didn’t come out of nowhere. We know he’s a great player, but at SEAM 2015 he took it to a new level. A perfect example is his match against crowd favorite BE/r/Kappa|Nemo, where RB’s Guy made short work of arguably the best Rolento player in the world taking him out 2-0. He then breaks out tourney-phenom Hugo and beats /r/Kappa|Misse, in one of the most thrilling matches you can hope for.
G.Y.R.O.: “Is this real?”
RZR|RB was a surprise but South Korea’s G.Y.R.O. came out of nowhere. It’s rare in major tournaments to see a high level Oni player, and G.Y.R.O. proved that he is exactly that! His match against Bonchan was a shocker, and you could tell that even the announcers had no idea what Bonchan was in for. This is one of many matches you simply have to see.
EG|Momochi vs /r/Kappa|Infiltration: Drunken Boxing
Seriously, you have to watch this match. This epic battle between EG|Momochi and /r/Kappa|Infiltration is a battle between two of the best players in the world, and it lives up to the hype.
Grand Finals: MCZ|Mago vs MCZ|Tokido
The Grand Finals was between MCZ|Mago and MCZ|Tokido, in a runback of a match that happened earlier in the event. They faced off in Winners Semi-Finals, with Mago defeating Tokido 3-1 and sending Tokido into the Losers Bracket. As expected it was a great match to watch. Tokido even broke out a pocket Hugo, but it didn’t help. Mago went on to win the set 3-0.
Team Mad Catz Domination
We are not yet at the halfway point in the Capcom Pro Tour 2015 season, but at this point in time Team Mad Catz is dominating. All three players, MCZ|Daigo Umehara, MCZ|Mago, and now MCZ|Tokido have earned automatic qualifying spots at this year’s Capcom Cup. Looking at the results for Seam 2015, we have Mago (1st place), Tokido (2nd), and Daigo (5th). It should also be noted that some of the losses incurred by these players during the tournament were to teammates. Mago and Tokido played each other earlier in Winner’s Semi-Finals and Tokido defeated and eliminated Daigo. It will be interesting to see what Team Mad Catz has planned for the remainder of the year, now that they have all qualified for Capcom Cup and all 3 are sitting on a large stockpile of Ranking Points.
