Stunfest 2018 Results: Japan’s FUDOH|Fujimura takes 1st Place!

PREMIER EVENT: Stunfest 2018 Results

Stunfest 2018, held in Rennes, France from May 18th through 20th, is in the books and Japan’s FUDOH|Fujimura has taken 1st place! Fujimura put on a spectacular performance, only losing to Japan’s legendary CYG BST|Daigo in top 16. He would then rampage through the losers bracket eliminating top players virtually without losing a game. He defeated Japan’s CYG BST|Fuudo 2-0, Japan’s Gachikun 3-0, France’s FNATIC|Akainu 3-0, Taiwan’s UYU|Oil King 3-2, then went on to finally take out Korea’s PG|Infiltration in two sets, 3-0 and 3-0! None of those matches were as one sided as the score may indicate but it just puts into perspective the scale of Fujimura’s achievement. Fujimura’s win at Stunfest comes after another 1st place finish at the Fighter’s Spirit Ranking Event in mid-April and another top 8 finish (7th place) at the Premier Event Final Round at the season’s outset.

Korea’s PG|Infiltration is having a great 2018 season so far, coming off a relatively quiet one last year. He took 2nd place at Stunfest, besting everyone at the event but Fujimura in Grand Finals. He just could not find a way to reliably turn the tables on Fujimura’s Ibuki, which is surely to be considered the best in the world after this event. Infiltration already has a 1st place finish at the Final Round Premier Event as well as a 4th place at the NorCal Regionals Premier Event under his belt.

Taiwan’s UYU|Oil King took 3rd place, losing in two absolutely breathtaking sets against Infiltration’s Juri in Winners Finals (2-3) and to Fujimura’s Ibuki in Losers Finals (2-3). His placement at Stunfest is his best so far this season, with twin 13th place finishes at NorCal Regionals and Final Round earlier this year.
