PREMIER EVENT: The MIXUP 2019 Results
The first Premier Event for the CPT Europe Region, The MIXUP 2019, has now concluded and the results are now in! The event was held in Lyon, France from April 20th through 21st.
REC|Punk from the USA took 1st place, giving him his second Premier Event win of the 2019 season! He also has a 2nd place finish at another 2019 Premier Event at NorCal Regionals 2019! Punk is dominating so far and this win will further extend his 1st place position on the leaderboard standings.
Punk was put into Losers bracket with a loss to NASR|AngryBird from the United Arab Emirates in Winners semi-finals 0-3. Punk would go on to defeat Japan’s FUDOH|Haitani (3-2), MOUSESPORTS|Problem X from the UK (3-0) and defeat AngryBird in a rematch at Losers Finals (3-1) to face off against Japan’s legendary CYG BST|Daigo “The Beast” Umehara in Grand Finals. Punk would go on to defeat Daigo in two sets to claim victory with scores of 3-1 and 3-2.
With a 2nd place finish, Japan’s CYG BST|Daigo “The Beast” Umehara has earned his best placement to date this season. His previous best was a top 8 finish (7th place) at the NorCal Regionals Premier Event in late March.
Coming in at third place was NASR|AngryBird from the United Arab Emirates, who closed out the last few months of last season very strong and made top 8 at Capcom Cup 2018. He continues to be strong early in 2019 with a great placement here as well as a 1st place at the Ranking Event Brussels Challenge Major Edition earlier this month.
