Game Over 2019 Results: Japan’s ROHTO Z!|Tokido Wins his 2nd Premier of the Season!

Premier Event: Game Over 2019 Results

The results are in for Game Over 2019, a Premier Event held from July 6th through 7th at Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Japan’s legendary ROHTO Z!|Tokido defeated Norway’s NVD|Phenom in Grand Finals.

Tokido got to Grand Finals through the Winners bracket and it was not an easy road. The top 8 in general was a tough one for all players with many sets going to the last match and a lot of those being decided on the last round! Tokido defeated Japan’s CO|Dogura in Winners Finals 3-2 to earn his spot in Grand Finals.

Norway’s NVD|Phenom was knocked into Losers bracket in a 2-3 loss to CO|Dogura. He went on to eliminate Japan’s CYG BST|Fuudo in Losers semi-finals and got his revenge against Dogura in a 3-2 win at Losers Finals to move on to face Tokido to decide the ultimate victor.

The Grand Finals between Tokido and Phenom was a tale of two sets. The first set saw Phenom getting an impressive win over Tokido 3-1 to reset the bracket. In the second set Tokido turned it around and cruised to victory 3-0, securing 1st place.

Tokido is having another incredible season and was at 3rd place on the Global Leaderboard standings prior to this event with a Premier Event win in March at NorCal Regionals. He has two other top 8s in Premiers as well as a win and several top 8s at Ranking Events to his credit. His win at Game Over and the 700 points it brings pushes him past Japan’s FUDOH|Fujimura and into 2nd place behind the USA’s REC|Punk.
