PREMIER EVENT: SoCal Regionals 2018 Results:
SoCal Regionals 2018, held in Los Angeles, CA, USA from September 14th through 16th is over and Japan’s FAV|Sako has won his second Premier Event of the season! Several players in top 8 area already in Capcom Cup range and are working on solidifying positions for seeding purposes. Players like USA’s Chris T and ECHO FOX|Punk as well as Japan’s ATLAS BEAR|StormKubo are on the bubble to make it into the big finale and every point counts.
FAV|Sako already has enough points to make it into Capcom Cup with a Premier Event win at TWFighter Major already under his belt. The win here just catapults him further up the Global Leaderboard and increases his seeding position at the finale. Sako won the event through the Winners bracket having not lost a set. The legendary street fighter legend is sitting comfortably on the leaderboard and if he keeps up this level of play into Capcom Cup he will be tough to beat.
China’s QANBA DOUYU|Xiao Hai also had enough points going into this event to earn a spot at Capcom Cup and just needs points for seeding position. This 2nd place finish ties a 2nd place at CEO earlier in the season. Xiao Hai was knocked into the Losers Bracket by Sako at Winners Finals (1-3) and was finally eliminated at Grand Finals by the same player 2-3. At Grand Finals Xiao Hai came very close to winning the set and re-setting the bracket but Sako managed to fend him off for the win.
Sitting just outside of Capcom Cup contention at 27th place prior to SoCal Regionals, USA’s CYG BST|Chris T needs every point he can get as the 2018 season draws closer to the end. He picked a great time to have the Premier Event performance of the season so far. Chris T was knocked into the Losers bracket in top 16 by XSK Samurai 0-2. He then went on an impressive run through the Losers Bracket, defeating Dankadillas (2-0), ATLAS BEAR|StormKubo (3-0) and Japan’s RED BULL|Bonchan (3-2) before being eliminated in Losers Finals by Xiao Hai.
